The families associated with the Peter Brown Family History lived in ENGLAND, primarily in Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Yorkshire. Genealogy family tree information is provided using pedigree & ancestry charts and family group descriptions.
This comprehensive web site focuses on Brown (or Browne) families who lived in Mid Sussex, South East Surrey and South West Kent. The main related families include Blundell, Bones, Comber, Colegate, Daniel, Dungate, Faulconer, Feldwick, Grove, Infield, Mills, Payne, Shirley, Stripp, Tidey, Underhill and Wicking. There are also Bland, Dobson, Rhodes and Speight families from Yorkshire.
The main parishes were East Grinstead, Fletching & West Hoathly (in Sussex) and Crowhurst, Horne, Limpsfield, Lingfield & Oxted (in Surrey) and Edenbridge (in Kent). The related families of most of the wives of the Brown families also came from these parishes or adjacent ones (including Hartfield, Worth (Sx), Oxted, Burstow (Sy) and Cowden (Kt)). For about 500 years, all main families (except Bones) came from and lived in an area of the country about 12 miles by 18 miles.
The other main branch of the family tree is the Speight family tree which originates (with its associated related families of wives) from Yorkshire & Durham, England, in particular in the parishes of Easingwold, Leeds, Middlesborough, Rothwell (& Oulton), Snaith, Woodkirk & Thornaby.
The basis of the web site is to focus on 'Family Groups' which is a family that had a grandparent of Peter Brown at its head. The family group shows children & grandchildren birth details, personal history, documents (wills, certificates, photos & archive information) plus information (including concerns) on authenticity of the genealogy information. Currently information is provided on over 240 'Family Groups' including many photos and documents and is thus more detailed than in a normal genealogy family tree.
Related family groups of the same name have been shown as Pedigree Charts showing all known generations taking generation zero as Peter Brown.
The main stem of the family tree is the Brown family and the overview is shown on the (which shows the parents of all generations that have been identified). However the Peter Brown Family History web site is also trying to cover the pedigree ancestry of the families of the women that married into the Brown group and their related families as this indentifies a number of indirect line ancestors of Peter Brown. The pedigree ancestry charts and the genealogy family history information of these families and others are available in the Peter Brown Family History.
The overall family tree ancestry of Peter Brown is provided under Ancestry Chart. These charts show all the names that are heads of family groups and the generations to which they relate. The detailed genealogy information of each family can then be accessed for each name.
The Name Search facility can be used to search alphabetically on the Peter Brown Family History web site for names that have family pedigree ancestry charts and to also find genealogy and family tree information via a more detailed search facility. I have collected genealogy information on the family name Brown from the parishes of Mid Sussex, East Surrey and South West Kent and this has been made available via this search facility. In addition one can search alphabetically on all other indiviuals that have been referenced in the family groups. There are over 9,400 events recorded (baptism, marriage & burial).
The Wills section of the Peter Brown Family History web site contains summaries of any known 'Wills' of people mentioned in the family groups and if a transcription of the Will, or a copy, is available then this is linked to.
Other historical information collected about relevant Sussex, Surrey & Kent parishes plus maps, towns, locations, buildings etc is provided under the places section of the Peter Brown Family History web site.
The main sources for the genealogy family history information are parish record transcripts and from those I have built the ancestry pedigree charts and family groups. I have also accessed other genealogy sites both to add to my history and to also verify the ancestry pedigree information held. Various other genealogy sources and history books have also been used. Details of all sources are shown in the family group information. Gregorian years have been shown throughout (so 1 is added for all Julian years used up to 1752 for the period 1st January to 24th March). Wherever possible two sources of information are used for events.
In the Family Group Information, the place of birth, death or marriage is just shown using the parish name. This should be read as the appropriate church name within that parish (see parish summary). The person could live anywhere in that parish and the location stated should not be taken as the actual village/town as some parishes were quite large (see parish map). eg Tandridge parish stretches from Sussex border to north of Oxted and Tandridge (the actual town/village) itself was in the very north of the parish.
I hope that you find the Peter Brown Family History web site interesting, comprehensive and easy to use.
