The following is a transcription of the will provided to me and made by John F Howes - January 2013

In the name of God Amen this thirty day of December in the yeare of our Lord God 1693 I Joane Wicking of East Grinsted in the County of Sussex maiden being weake of Body but of good and perfect mind and memory praised be god for the same therefore I doe ordaine this my last will & testament in manner and form following that is to say I bequeath my soule unto God and unto Jesus Christ my Redeemer in this whom I hope to have pardon from all my sins past and my Body to the earth to be decently buried by my executor hereafter named.
Item I give unto my cousin John Anstom son of John Anstom one pair of brandirons and one little chaire.
Item I give and bequeath unto Joan Tooth daughter of Nicholas Tooth the sume of ten shillings.
I give more unto my God daughter one gowne, one apern, one blew aporn and my best hatt and casertem.
I give unto my cozen William Linbies wife one aporn and one blew aporn.
Item I give unto William Anstom son of John Anstom one iron porridge pot.
Item I give unto my brother son of Richard the sume of one shilling if it be lawfully demanded.
Item I give unto my brother Word sume of one shilling if it be lawfully demanded.
And I doe make and ordaine my cozen John Anstom to be my sole and whole Executor of this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth.
I give and bequeath unto my cozen John Anstom all my Goods and Cattell and Chattells whatsoever and all my ready money whatsoever and all the rest of my goods but he is for to discharge my funerall and the rest of my buriall discharged. And my will is that my Executor shall set a raile over my grave the marke and seale of Joane Wicking.
Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence his marke Thomas Wood, his marke John Wicking.
