The following is a transcription of the will provided to me and made by John F Howes - March 2013

In the name of god amen the viijth day of januarie in the yeare of our lord god on thousand ffive hundred nyntye I Thomas Underhill of the prish of Eastgreensted in the dyocese of chychester doe make and ordeyne this my last will & testament in maner & forme following: ffirst & principally I bequeathe my soule to allmightye god my creator & redeemr and my bodye to be buryed where it shall seeme good to my executors and other frends. I bequeathe to the poore psons kept of the prishe of eastgreensted in money iijs iiijd;
Alsoe I take order thereby that myne executors after my decease shall take an inventorye of all my stuffe of household in the house as it now standethe, to the ende there the same being soe --- prysed they maye be devided into three porcons that Elyzabeth my wife may have out her pte and John my sonne and Arthur my sonne alsoe may have the other ptes by equall porcons provided and it is my will that Elysabeth my wife take the first choyce of the stuff of household so to be devided;
Item I further bequeathe unto my said wife the mylke of one kowe during the tyme that she shall remayne a wydowe, the sd kowe to be keepte in the charge of myne executors hereafter assigned.
Item I further bequeath to my wife xlb in money to be payed to her by myne executors in maner and forme following; ffirst halfe to be paid to her within one month after my decease the residue of the said xlb to be payed by pts the next half yeares by equal portions at the sume of xxs until the sume of xlb shall have come to her.
Item my will that my sd wife & sonne(s) shall dwell together then they maye be helpe in her comfort beinge & comforting and other by yt ---- and I giveth my said sonnes in charge to support theyre said mother xxs  and may showe hymself merciful to them the brothers.
Item --- in wch Braband  & my sonne plawe dothe owe me in monye xlb & ffiftie shillings he doe clearethe forgeve him the same and doe bequeathe unto him more in monie xs to be payd to him by myne executors wth in one yeare next after my decease if Braband live soe longe.
Item I bequeathe unto Salomon my sonne in money vjs viijd to be paid the said Salomon at the age of xxi yeares.
Item I bequeathe unto Elizabeth my daughter in money vlb to be pd to the sd Elizabeth at her age of xx yeares or at her marryage day;
And the residue of my goods cattles & credits, my funerall charges discharged I doe giveth, bequeathe to John and Arthur my sonnes whome I doe ordeyne to be myne executors of this my last will & testament & they to hold the same as theire owne for ever;
Item I doe constitute and ordeyne Walter Humfrye, my brother Plawe & Peter Harrys to be the ovrseers of this my testament and they to have for their paines in money iijs iiijd a piece.
Item I doe further bequeathe unto my wife the greate cheste in the chamber.
