The following is a transcription of the will provided to me and made by John F Howes - January 2013

In the name of god amen the five and twentieth day of October Annoqr dmi 1675 in the seaven and twentieth year of the raigne of our Soveregne Lord King Charles the second of England I Samuel Tapsell Maresfeild within the county of Sussex yeoman being sicke and weake in body but of whole and p’fect remembrance God be praysed doe ordayne and make this my last will and testamt in manner and forme ffolowinge first and principally I commend my soule to Almighty God my maker hopeing assuredly through the only meritts of Jesus Christ my saviour to be made  p’taker of life everlasting and I commend my body to the earth whereof it was made.
Item I will and give unto my loveing wife Elizabeth the feather bed and boulster and two blankets and the coverlett & stedl and five paire of sheetes and the curtayne and other things thereof belonging standing in the parlour chamber and the newe sinnon wheele and one chest to be defined by my executor wthin one weake after my decease.
Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Tapsell ffifty pounds to be paid for by my executor wthin five yeares after my decease at three payments that is to say the first paymt is twenty pounds to be payed unto her by my executor wthin one yeare after my decease being lawfully demanded and the second paymt is ffifte one pounds to be paid her by my executor wthin three yeares after my decease being determined the third payment is ffifte one pounds to be paid her by my executor wthin ffive yeares after my decease being lawfully demanded.
Item I give unto my cozen Sara Upton twentye shillings to be paid unto her by my executor within one yeare after my decease being lawfully demanded.
Item I give and bequeath unto my sone Samuell Tapsell after my debts and legacies paid all my moveables and household goods whatsoever and all my lands, hay, corne and cattell whatsoever whome I doe declare and make my sole executor last will and testament for witnes
whereof I the said Samuell Tapsell have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written the Marke of Samuell Tapsell
sealed and delined in the p’sence of us Anthony Colden, the marke of Thomas Smith.
