The following is a transcription of the will provided to me and made by John F Howes - March 2013

The fourteenth day of February in the year of our lord god one thousand six hundred eighty and nine I George Paine of west Hoathly in the County of Sussex, yeoman being not well in body but of perfect mind and memory (praised bee god therefore) doe make and ordaine this to be my last will and testament in manner and fforme following;
First I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne Browne fforty pounds to bee paid unto her within three months next after my decease.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Homes the wife of John Homes twenty pounds to bee paid unto her within three months next after my decease:
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Stoner the wife of John Stoner thirty pounds to bee paid unto her within three months next after my decease:
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Stoner one ffeild lying in West Hoathly aforesaid and called by the name Williams Croft to her and her heirs for ever;
Item I give and bequeath unto the three children of my daughter Browne that is to say to the two eldest John Browne and Thomas Browne to each of them ffive pounds And to Andrew Browne the youngest tenne pounds to bee paid unto them by my executor when they shall accomplish the age of twenty one yeares. And if any of them die before they come to the age of twenty one yeares then his or their porcon to goe to the survivor or survivors of being equally divided;
Item I give and bequeath unto the two children of my daughter Margaret Homes being Margaret Homes and Anne Homes ffive pounds to either of them to bee paid when they shall accomplish the age of twenty one yeares or at the day of marriage which shall next happen; And if any of them die before they become marryed or accomplish the age of twenty one yeares the the porcon to goe to the survivor:
Item All the rest of my goods, chattels, lands and tenements (those legacies contained in this my last will and testament and ffunerall expenses discharged) I wholly give unto my two daughters Elizabeth Jenner the wife of George Jenner and to Mary Jenner the wife of Robert Jenner to be equally divided betwixt them and their heires for ever.

And I doe make and ordaine George Jenner and Robert Jenner my two sonnes in law joint executors of this my last will and testament and to pay my debts and legacies:
Alsoe I doe appoint Nicholas Mills and Abraham Nicholas of Ardingly to be my overseers of this my will And I give to each of them tenne shillings;
And to witness this to bee my last will and testament I have hereunto sett my hand and also my seale the day and yeare ffirst above written.
The marke of George Paine witnesse hereunto are Abraham Nicholas; Richard Pratt; George Marten.
