In the name of God Amen the vith day of Marche the yere of o’r Lord God 1558 I Edward Payne of Ardynglygh in the County of Sussex husbandman beynge sycke in bodye but of pfyct remembrannce thancks be unto God doe ordayne and make this my last will and Testament in man’ and forme folowinge. 
First I bequeth my sowle to Almighty God my maker and redemer and my bodye to be buryed in the church yard of Ardynglygh.  Itm I gyve to the hygh alter there for my tythes forgotten iiiid. 
Itm ... the poore people of the same pishe vid. 
Itm I geve and bequeth to John Payne my sonne all my interest and terme of yeres wch I have to come in my farme called Lodge Howsse with all the lands to the same belongynge to be had to hym and to his assygnes ..... iii quarters of otes vi bushels of wheate one fetherbed with all things thereto belongyngs & one payer of shetes. 
Itm ... bequeth to Roger Charcroft?................  The residew of all my goods not bequethed my detts ..... legaces payde and this  my last will pformed
I gyve and bequeth to Thomas Payne my sone whome I make my sole exor for the pformance of this my last will. 
Itm I make John Payne of .... ov’seare of this my last will and Testament.  And he to have for his paynes takynge ....  these? beynge witnesse  John Payne of ....;  Thomas Comstock?
