In the name of God Amen The Five and Twentith day of Marche in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand Six hundred and Sixteene I John Midmore being sicke of body but of good and perfect remembrance I thanke God therfor doe ordyne and make this my laste Will and Testament in manner and form following after First I give and bequeath my Soule unto allmighty God of whome I received it and I hope to be saved by the death and passion of Jesus Christ my onely saviour and redeemer And my body to be buryed at the Discretion of my Executor
Item I give unto the poore of Chiddingly twenty shillings to bee given at my Buryall
Item I give unto Agnes Midmer my wife twenty pounds A yeare yearly to bee taken and receaved out of all my lands durying her naturall life Uppon this Condicion that shee shall clayme mo other right or title in my lands or woods The which yf my sayd wife doe clayme any other right title or interest by waye of dowry or otherwise that then this my gifte or bequeth of twenty pounds yearly during her naturall life to bee woyd and of none effecte
Item I give and bequeath to my wife twenty pounds of laefull money of England and all my houshold stuffe
Item I give unto Thomas Midmore my sonne two hundred pounds of good and lawfull money of England to bee payd unto him at the age of one and twenty yeares
Item I give and bequeath unto my brothers Ellis Midmore and Sammuell Midmore to either of them ten poundes a peece of lawfull money of England to be payd unto them within one yeare next after my decease
Item I give unto six of my Father Warnetts children which he had by my mother and Rebekah Miller my sister twenty pounds of good and lawfull money of England equally to be devided amongste them and to be payd unto them within one yeare next after my decease
And yf it should happen my wife to be with child with sonne or daughter I give unto it one hundred pounds of lawfull money of England to bee payd it by Ellis Midmore my Sonne out of the lands when it shall accomplishe the age of one and twenty yeares
Item I give unto Oliver Dauntry my servant all my wearing apparrell except my beast coate and cloake
Item my very will and mynde is that my wife shall leave unto my sonne Ellis Midmore all the bedsteddes the presses and the Bruing Fornace
Item I give and my very mynd is that Edward Lasey of Laughton shall have hould and inioye A certeyne parsell of land called the Dickerland unto hym for terme of his naturall life paying therefore yearly and every yeare during his life foure pounds of lawfull money of England at two usuall feasts in the yeare that is to saye at the anuntiation of our blessed Virgine Mary and St Michaell the Archangell by equal portions provided and reserved allwayes the woods there uppon growing unto the heyes of the sayd John Midmore and that it shalbe lawfull for the heyres Executors and Assigns of the sayd John Midmore at all tymes to cutt and carry away the sayd woodes at theire pleasures
Item I give more unto Agnes Midmore my wife twenty pounds
Item my will and mynde is that my Executor hereafter to bee named shall have full power and authoryty to cutt downe twenty pounds worth of my wooodes when hee shall see occasion
Item my will is that yf it please god that my sonne Thomas doe dye before he come unto the age of one and Twenty yeares that then my mynde is that the former Legacye given unto my sonne Thomas shall goe unto my sonne Ellis Midmore
Item I ordeyne and make my brother John Meere whole executor of this my last Will and Testament
Item I make & ordeyne my Overseers Mr James Warnett Mr Thomas French and my brother Samuell Midmore
