The following is a transcription of the will provided to me and made by Jane Wicks:

In the name of God Amen The eightenth daie of Februarie in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundred and fourteen I Richard Infeild als Inyngfeld of Westhothlie in the countie of Sussex gent beinge of perfecte memorie but in health of bodie unperfecte praysed be god for both knowinge well and foreseeinge the frailtie and uncertaintie of the life of mann doe make and ordaine this my last will and testamente in manner and forme followinge first I commend my soule into the handes of god that gave yt assuredlie hopinge of my salvacion thorough the meritts and passion of my mediator and onlie saviour Christ Jesus and my bodie I leave to the earth from where it was taken therein to be decentlie buried at the discretion of my wife and of the overseers of this my last will heareafter named.
Item I give to the preacher which shall preach at my buriall twentie shillinges.
Item I give to the poore of the parish of Westhothlie aforesaid four poundes to be distributed amongst them at the discrecion of my wife and of the overseers of this my will which shalbe heareafter named.
Item I give to everie one of my servantes which shalbe with me in househould at the time of my death tenne shillings apeece.
Item I give to Richard Infeild my kinsman and sometimes my servante five poundes to be paid unto him within six monethes after my decease.
Item I give unto Edmunde Infeild of Buckested fourtie shillinges.
Item I give unto Richard Infeild sonne of the said Edmunde five poundes.
Item I give unto my God sonne (blank) Pattenden the sonne of George Pattenden gent a ringe of gould of twentie shillinges price for a remembrance.
Item I give unto my god sonne (blank) Courtopp a ringe of gould of twentie shillinges price for a remembrance.
Item I give to everie one of my other god children which shall demand yt within one yeare after my decease twelve pence a peece.
Item I give to my verie lovinge mother Margaret Newnam five poundes to be bestowed by her on a peece of plate for a remembrance of me.
Item whereas I have nowe in my handes the some of two hundred poundes beinge the porcion of Richard Faulknor and given unto him by Henry Faulknor his father deceased for which I have agreed with the said Richard Faulkner to paye unto him the some two hundred fiftie and six poundes of lawfull money uppon the last daie of May which shalbe in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred and seaventeene and accordinglie have given him my bond for the paymente thereof and have taken the covenante of the said Richard Faulknor for my securitie to save me harmeles of all damages and costs of suite and other chardges which maie hereafter happen unto me, myne Executors or administrators for or in respecte of the said two hundred poundes nowe for the better securitie of the true paymente of the said some of two hundred fiftie and six poundes unto him the said Richard Faulkner, his Executors Administrators or Assignes accordinge to my agreememte my will is that yf I shall happen to die before the paymente thereof that my Executor or overseers hereafter named shall well and trulie paie the some of two hundred fiftie and six poundes uppon the said last daie of Maie which shalbe in the said yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundreth and seaventeene such somes of money beinge thereout first deducted as I, my Executor, Administrators shalbe occasioned to or mean to of any suit or question which shall hereafter happen to be made for or concerninge the said some moreover I doe give unto him the said Richard Faulknor one gueldinge or five pounds in money to be delivered unto him on the said last daie of Maie when his said porcion will be payable yf he shall then be livinge.
Item I give unto Catherine Infeild my deare and welbeloved wife my house and lands in Lingfeild called Lynnes and all other my lands in the occupacion of Thomas Underhill until James Infeild my third sonne shall or by course of time should have accomplished his age of one and twentie yeares yf he shall so long live and if my said wife shall happen to die duringe the said terme then I will and devise the said house and lands to myne overseers hereafter named for the spiedyer performance of this my will and from and after the full age of one and twentie yeares of my said sonne James I will and devise the same unto my said sonne James and to the heirs males of his boddie lawfullie begotten and for want of such yssue to my sonne Richard Infeild and to the heirs males of his boddie lawfullie begotten and for want of such yssue to the heirs females of my said sonne James of his bodie lawfullie begotten and also I give and devise unto my said sonne James and to the heirs of his bodie (lawfully deleted) begotten ymmediatelie from and after my decease my lands in Godstone in Surrey called The Bye and all my lands in Lingfeild called Sugham and all other my lands tenementes and hereditaments in Lynfeild aforesaid and in Tandridge in the said countie of Surrey and my will and mynde is that yf my said sonne James should happen to die without yssue as aforesaid then the said landes berfore to him devised shall goe and remaine to my eldest sonne Richard Infeild and to the heirs of his bodie lawfullie begotten and for lack of such yssue to my fourth sonne and to the heirs of his bodie lawfullie begotten and for lack of such yssue to my daughters Anne,** Bridget and Cordell and the heirs of their bodies and for want of such yssue to my daughters Margarett and Catherine and the heirs of their bodie lawfully begotten and for want of such yssue to my right heirs forever.
And further I will and devise unto my said wife one annuytie or yerelie rent of fiftie poundes by the yeare untill my said sonne James should have accomplished his full age of one and twentie yeres yf she shall soe longe live
And from the said terme beinge expired one annuytie or yerelie rent of foure score poundes by the yeare to be yssuynge and goinge out of all my manor lands tenementes and hereditamentes in the countie of Sussex that should perceive and take to my said wife and her assignes duringe the said terme of her naturall life the said annuyties or yerelie rents respectivelie to be paid unto her or her assignes at the four usuall feastes of the yeare viz the Feaste of the Annunciacion of the Virgine Marie the nativitie of St John the Baptiste the Feaste of Sainte Michael Th’archangell and the birth of our Lord Christ by equall porcions or within twentie daies after everie or anie of the said feastes the first paymente thereof to begynne at such of the said feastes as shall first and next happen after my decease.
Nevertheles my will is that the said Catherine my wife shall within six monethes after my death uppon reasonable request release and relinquish all such joynture as I have heretofore assured or granted unto her or to her use and all such dower and title of dower as she hath or maie have out of all or anie my landes tenementes or hereditamentes wheresoever.
Item I devise unto John Infeild my second sonne one anuytie or yerely rente of twentie markes by the yere  untill his full age of one and twentie yeares and after his said age one annuytie or yerelie rente of twentie pounds by the yeare duringe the life of my said wife and from and after the decease of my said wife one annuytie of fourtie markes by the yeare for and duringe the naturall life of my said sonne John to be yssuinge and goinge out of all my manor landes tenementes and hereditamentes in the said counties of Sussex and Surrey and payable unto him at the said four usuall feastes of the yere or within one and twentie daies after everie of the said feastes.
And I will and devise unto the said Margarett and Catherine my daughters unto each of them one annuytie or yearelie rente of twentie markes by the yeare untill their severall ages of one and twentie yeares and afterwards duringe their naturall lives one annuytie or yerelie rente of twentie poundes apeece by the yeare to be yssuinge and goinge lykewise out of all my manor landes tenementes and hereditaments in the said countie of Sussex and Surrey and to be paid unto them lykewise severllie and respectivelie at the said four usuall feastes of the yeare or within one and twentie daies of everie or anie of the said feastes by even and equall porcions.
And yf it shall happen that anie of the said annuyties or yerelie rentes aforesaid to be behind and unpaid to my said sonne John or unto my said daughters Margarett and Catherine severallie and respectivelie or unto their severall assignes in part or in all at anie of the feastes aforesaid in which the same oughte to be paid as aforesaid and by the space of one and twentie daies after anie of the said feastes that then and soe often and at all times after it shall and maybe lawfull to and for my said sonne John and my daughters Margarett and Catherine severallie and respectivelie and their severall assignes for their severall rentes aforesaid to diseraine in all or anie part of my said mannor lands tenements and hereditaments in the said counties of Sussex and Surrey aswell for the said severall rents and the arrerages thereof as for twentie shillinges more to each of them to whom anie such rente shalbe due and unpaid in the name of a ___  as often as yt shall happen Provided alwaise and my meaninge is that none of my lands devised unto my said sonne James or to my wife shall duringe there lives, nor anie my lands in Burstowe for soe long as the same shalbe in the hands of my overseers accordinge to this my will, shalbe anie waise charged with anie the rents aforesaid
And I hartelie entreate my said wife duringe her life and the overseers of this my will after my decease duringe the minoritie of my sonne Richard and afterwards I charge my sonne Richard to take care to the maintaynance bringinge upp and orderlie providinge for thinges necessarie for my said children John, Margarett and Catherine in fitt and convenient sorte
And my will and mynde is that my wife shall receive there severall annuyties in yerely maintaynance from my overseers untill my sonne Richard come to his full age and my sonne Richard and my overseers respectivelie for that severall times either retayninge or imployinge their said porcions upon them faithfullie without diminition.
Item I give unto my daughter Agnes a thousand markes and to my daughters Bridgett and Cordell five hundred pounds apeece of lawfull money to be paid unto them severallie at there severall ages  of twentie yeres or daies of there marriages which shall first happen or as soone after those severall times or daies as the same canne be raysed by the overseers of this my will
And I will that my said wife shall have the bringinge upp of my said three daughters and the proffitts of there porcions aforesaid as the same shalbe raysed and in the and the meantime convenient allowance out of the profitts of my said lands by the discrecion of my overseers for the defrayinge and bearinge of the chardge thereof.
And whereas I have latelie bought the mannor of Bristowe als Burstowe and divers other lands tenements and hereditaments in Burstowe and elswhere in the countie of Surrey of William Turner, Cittizen and Salter of London in and by the conveyances whereof the premisses soe purchased are limitted unto myselfe for the terme of my naturall life and after my decease to such person or persons as I by my last will and testamente in writinge or by some other writinge or writinges under my hande and seale in my life time should directe and appointe the same for soe many yeares as should bee soe directed or appointed tyme soe as they exceede not the nomber of fifteene yeares with divers remainders over al in and by the conveyance thereof maie appeare nowe for the better acomplishmente and performance of this my last will, I will and devise the premisses soe purchased as aforesaid unto my overseers hereafter named duringe the said terme or nomber of yeares upon trust and confidence that with the proffitts and rentes of the premisses they shall bringe upp and maintaine my said sonne Richard at there best discrecions untill his full age of one and twentie yeares and the surplusage thereof (there owne necessarie chardges and expences which they shall expend about the performance of this my will beinge first deducted) they shall imploy first for the paymente of all such debts as at the time of my decease I shall owe either in lawe or conscience
And after my said debts paid for the raysinge of my childrens porcions accordinge to this my will Neverthelesse my will and intente is that whensoever my said sonne Richard shall after his full age of one and twentie yeares either paie or give good and sufficiente securitie to my overseers or the survivor of them to pay the severall sommes of money aforesaid accordinge to the true meaninge of this my will that then and from thence fourth the said terme for yeares limitted to my overseers aforesaid shall cease determine and bee utterlie voyde
Item I will and devise that my overseers hereafter named or the survivor or survivors of them shall receive the rentes and proffittes of all other my mannor lands tenementes and hereditaments not otherwise disposed of by this my will untill my sonne Richard shall have accomplyshed his age of one and twentie yeares for the spidier paymente of my debtes and legacies and performance of my will
And I will and devise that my sonne Richard after he shall have attained his full age of one and twentie yeares shall have all my mannor lands tenementes and hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever and the revercion and revercions remainder and remainders thereof other then such as are herein formerlie devised or disposed of to my said wife and sonne James as aforesaid to have and to hould to my said sonne Richard and to the heres of his bodie begotten and for wante of such yssue to my said sonne James and the heires of his bodie lawfullie begotten and for want of such yssue to my fourth sonne and to the heires of his bodie lawfullie begotten and for want of such yssue to my daughters Agnes, Bridgett and Cordell and to the heires of there bodies lawfullie begotten and for want of such yssue to my daughters Margarett and Catherine and the heires of there bodies lawfullie begotten and for want of such yssue to remaine to the right heires of me the said Richard Infield forever
Item I give unto my said wife all my stocke of corne and cattell which I shall have at the time of my decease and I will that my said wife shall have the use and occupacion of all my household stuffe and implementes of husbandrie to be used by her in and aboute my mansion house called Gravetie as longe as shee shall dwell therein and I will that my said wife at her departure from my said mansion house have the bedstead in the chamber over the hall with the bed and the furniture thereunto belonginge and it is nowe used and two other featherbeds and two servantes beds with there furniture and the one half of my lynnen and pewter to be appointed out for her by myne overseers hereafter named or the greatest nomber of them or the survivor or survivors of them to her owne propper use
The residue of all my household stuffe and implementes of husbandrie I give unto my said sonne Richard yf he shall then be livinge or if he shalbe dead I give the same to such of my children as by this my will have my said house called Gravetie
Item I give to my overseers hereafter named the residue of all my stocke and goods not disposed of before by this my will to the intente that therewith and with the rest of my estate aforesaid comitted by me to there care and trust my debts shalbe dulie paid my funerall in decente manner performed my children brought upp and maintained as aforesaid and the legacies aforesaid by this my will given and bequeathed bee raysed and dischardged and whatsoever shall remaine thereof shall wholie goe and bee converted to the benefit of my sonne Richard or of such other person or persones is to have my house and landes called Gravetie by the limittacion of this my will and my advise requestes that my overseers hereafter named shall after my decease continue the occupacion of the yronworke nowe in my handes soe longe as my lease thereof continueth which yf they shall thinke fitt to doe then my will and desire is that the care and chardge thereof be comitted to Richard Trendle my servante whome I nowe imploy therein and he to have twentie poundes a yeare for his paines in lokeinge unto the same hee givinge first his bond of a conveniente some unto my overseers to make a true and faithfull accompte unto them of those thinges which shalbe soe comitted to his chardge
And of this my last will testamente I ordaine and make my said sonne Richard my sole executor and trustie and welbeloved freinds Francis Challoner of Horsted Keynes gentleman my uncle and John Compton gentleman my brother in lawe to bee myne overseers of this my will and I entreate them to take uppon them the administracion of my goods duringe the minoritie of my sonne untill his age of one and twentie yeares when and not before I would have him to take uppon himselfe the said executorshipp
And I hartelie entreate them to bee assistinge unto my said wife and sonne in the execucion of this my will and the disposinge of my children and there severall porcions and estates accordinge to this my will as I confidentlie presume they will faithfully performe
And I give unto each of my overseers and my cozen Roberte Heath of the Inner Temple a Spurr Riall* for a remembrance In witness of which my last will I have hereunto sett my hand and seal and have published the same to be my last will in the presence of the marke of Richard Infeild

The one and twentith daie of September Anno Domimi 1619 I Richard Infeild als Inyngfeild of Westhothlie in the countie of Sussex gentleman beinge sicke in bodie but of perfecte remembrance for the better advancemente and prefermente of my sonne James Infeild and for the enlardgemente of his estate doe give and bequeath unto him my said sonne James all those my lands tenementes and hereditamentes with the appurtannces called or knowne by the name of Lynes situate lyinge and beinge in Lingfeild in the countie of Surrey And all other my landes tenementes and hereditamentes whatsoever with the appurtannces in the tenure or occupacion of Thomas Underhill or of his assignes to such use and uses and in such manner and forme as in and by my last will and testamente is limitted and appointed
And further I give and bequeath unto my said sonne James Infeild and the heires of his bodie lawfullie begotten and to be begotten all those my landes tenementes and hereditamentes with the appurteynnces situate lyinge and beinge in Godston in the countie of Surrey called or knowne by the name of Barland and all other my mannors messuages landes tenementes hereditamntes rents services revercions remainders yssues profitts and appurteynnces whatsoever situate lyinge and beinge in Godstone Lingfeild and Tandrige or anie of them in the countie of Surrey
And my will and mynde is that if my said sonne James shall happen to die without yssue of his bodie as aforesaid then I will and devise all and everie the same mannors messuages landes tenementes hereditamentes rents services revercions remainders yssues profitts with the appurtences unto Richard Infeild my eldest sonne and to the heires of his bodie lawfullie begotten and to be begotten and for default of such yssue to (blank) Infeild my fourth sonne and to the heires of his bodie lawfullie begotten and to be begotten and for default of such yssue to my daughters Anne** Briget and Cordell and the heires of there bodies lawfullie begotten and to be begotten and for default of such yssue to my daughters Margarett and Katherine and to the heires of there bodies lawfullie begotten and to be begotten and for default of such yssue to the right heires of me the said Richard Infeild forever
Item I give and devise unto Katherine my deare and  lovinge wife her children and servantes for and duringe her naturall life the use and occupacion of both those two chambers which are over the hall in my mansion house wherein I nowe dwell and the two chambers in the Gallerie over them with free libertie of Ingresse egresse and regresse to and for her and them or anie of them to and from the same chambers and the chambers in the Gallerie over them And to have and to take wood fyer water and other necessaries uppon my lands called Gravetie and the keepinge of a gueldinge and also I comitt the educacion and custodie of my children unto the said Catherine my wife And I doe herebie give full power and authoritie unto my overseers in my last will and testamente named to use and imploy all the underwoods standinge growinge and beinge in all that parcell of wood ground called the Plawe beinge in the parrish of Eastgrinsted in the aforesaid countie of Sussex for and duringe the space of five yeares from the daie of the death of me the said Richard Infeild And to receive and take upp all the rentes yssues and proffittes of all those mannors messuages landes tenementes and hereditaments which I have lefte and conveyed unto my sonne Richard Infeild untill he shall accomplish the full age of two and twentie yeares allowinge him maintenannce out of the same at the discrecion of my said overseers and after his accomplishmente of the age of twentie two yeares then my said overseers to be accomtable to him for the same
