The following is a transcription of the will provided to me and made by John F Howes - March 2013

Memorand that Robert Grove of Eastgrinsted in the county of Sussex deceased did on the tenth day of July in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred sixty and three being sick in body but of pfect mind & memory wth an intent & purpose to make and declare his last will and testament nuncupative utter & spoake these words following or the like in effect (viz);
Inprimis he did give his daughter Jane Grove one shilling ;
And all the rest of his goods and chattels and the little cottage he did give to be equally divided bnetweene his three sonnes Abell, William & Thomas & the said cottage to be sould by his executor hereafter expressed for the use of his said three sonnes provided always and it was his true intent that his goods & cottage do amount to the value of above ffive pounds to the said three brothers that then the youngest brother Thomas should have ffive pounds more to the bringing of him up;
And he did desire his wellbeloved brother Thomas Harling of Worth to sell his said cottage and goods for the best use & benefit of his three sonnes & to pay them their portions as it will arise ehen they shall attaine to the age of one and twenty yeares and he did lastly make his brother John Harling his executor of this his last will & testamt .
And he did before his loving freinds William Eastland & George Stephenson to see this his will p’formed to the true intent and purpose thereof; And these words or the like in effect (he spoake).
