The following is a transcription of the will made by John F Howes August 2012:

In the name of god amen the fowerth day of September in the two and thirtieth year of the raigne of our soveraigne Lord King Charles the second by the grace of god of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, King, defender of the faith ye Annoqe Dom 1680; I John Falconer of Balcombe in the county of Sussex yeoman being weak and aged but of good and perfect memory (thanks bee given to almighty god for the same). Doo make and ordaine this my last will and testament in the manner and forme following.
First and in chief I commend my soule into the hands of Almighty god my maker: And my body to bee decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named.
Item I give unto Anne my loving wife the summe of five pounds to bee paid unto her within three months after my decease.
Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth the wife of Thomas Standen the lease of Yew Trees Farm.
Item I give unto my said daughter Standen’s three children tenne shillings a peece.
Item I give unto son Thomas his six children tenne shillings a peece.
Item I give unto my sonne John Falconer the summe of tenne shillings.
Item I give unto my daughter Susan the wife of Thomas Gardiner the summe of tenne pounds to bee paid unto her within six months next after my decease.
Item I give to my said daughter Susan’s two sonnes tenne shillings a peece.
Item I give unto my daughter Sarah the wife of Ninian Creasy the summe of tenne shillings.
Item I give unto my daughter Sarah’s fower daughters ten shillings a peece.
Item I give unto my grandson Henry Falconer the summe of tenne shillings. .
Item I give unto my granddaughter Sarah Falconer the summe of tenne shillings.
Item I give unto the poore of the parish of Balcombe the summe of tenne shillings.
Item I give unto my daughter Jane the summe of fourty pounds to bee paid to her within six months after my decease.
Item I give unto my said daughter jane noe feather bed and bedstedle, one coverlet, two blankets and two pairs of towen sheetes and one pair of flaxen sheets. All which such severall summes of money shall be paid by mine executors hereafter named.
All the rest of my goods, cattell, chattels, debts, credits, ready money, plate, household stuffe ungiven and unbequeathed (my debts legacies and funeral expenses being first satisfied and paid) I give and bequeath unto my sonne Henry Falconer whom I make full and whole executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness that this is my very last will and testament I the said John Falconer have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and tear above written, hereby revoking all other wills formerly by mee made. John Falconer.
