In the name of God Amen The xiiiith day of June Anno Dni 1637 I John Danyell of the parrish of Shipley in the County of Sussex husbandman being sicke in body but of good & pfect memory Thanks be given unto God therefore doe ordayne & make [illegible] will & Testament in manner forme [as followeth]
ffirst I bequeathe my soulde into the hands of Almighty God expecting salvacon by the death & passion of my onely Redeemer Jesus Christ And my body to bee buryed in the Churchyard of Shipley Inprimis I will & bequeath [to the poor of the parish of?] Shipley the some of [illegible] [pounds?] to be payd by my Executor [hereunder menconed] [four?] yeares by xxs the yeare
Item I will & bequeath to William Cowper my wives sonne forty shillings besides that hee should have by his [fathers?] will to be payd him two moneths after my decease
Itm I will & bequeath to my daughter Mary Hurst ffive pounds to be paid her within halfe a yeare after my decease
Itm I will & bequeath to Mary Hurst my daughters daughter ffive pounds to bee payd her wthin the terme of foure years after my decease And yf it happen that the said Mary my daughters daughter shall depart this life before the terme of foure yeares bee expired Then my will & meaning is that the said ffive pounds shalbee payd to the next Childe of my said daughter And if she hath noe Children then it shall remayne to her selfe
Itm I will & bequeath to Thomas Cowper my wives other sonne ffive pounds to be payd him wthin a yeare after my decease
Itm I will & bequeath to my beloved wife Anne Danyell fforty pounds to bee payd her xxli wthin six moneths after my decease And the other xxli wthin a yeare after my decease
Itm all the rest of my goods Cattells & chattells moveable & immoveable I will & bequeath to John Danyell my sonne whome I make sole Executor of this my last will & Testament
And I intreat my welbeloved frends James Hurst the elder and William Danyell my brother to bee Overseers of this my last will & Testament And I give unto them xxs a peece and will that all their charges shalbee borne by my Executor wch they shalbee at about this my last Testament
Itm I will & bequeath to Mr Tredcrofte xls to bee payd to him three moneths after my decease
Itm I will & bequeathe more to my wife the use of the Chamber over the milkhouse wth the best Bedd & furniture during the tyme of her widdowhood onely John Danyell his marke This I doe publish to bee the last will & Testament of mee John Danyell the day & yeare above
