The following is a transcription of the will made by Jane Wicks:

In the name of god amen, anno domini 1587 et anno regni domina Eliz XXX et quinto die mensis Maij (30th year of Elizabeth, 5th May) I Thomas Challoner of Asshyngton in the county of Sussex, gent, do make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge First I bequeth my soule to Almighty god and my body to be buryed in the church of Asshyngton
Item my debts being payd of all my goods cattells and chattells then, that which shall remaine to be equallie devided betwene Thomazsyne my wiefe and Fraunces my sonne,
and for the lease of my farme of Asshyngton I bequeth yt onlie to my wiefe Thomisine yf so she ___ long at the terme endureth and she to pay in respect thereof to my three daughters Mary, Bridget and Anne V li (£5) a peece at the day of their marriages and V li a peece more at that tyme xij (12) months after they are maryed and yf yt fortune my wiefe to die before the same lease be expyerd then my son Fraunces shall have and enjoy the rest of the yeres which are not expyerd and he shall pay to my daughters so much as my wiefe shall have payd accordinge to the rate of the yeres which he shall enjoy yt and no more, moreover my will ys that my sonne Fraunces shall have my half part of my farme at _____ with John Felwick my son in lawe,
furthermore I give to the high church of Chichester vj s
Item I give to John Felwyck my son in lawe a bull beinge a yere old or thereabouts
Item I give iij s iiij d to the church of Asshyngton because I will that my bodie be buryed in the same.
Lastlye I constitute and ordaine my son Fraunces my sole executor thereof my last will and testament
Item I appoint my well beloved frynds Christopher Myrshall and John Munck overseers to see that this my last will and testament be performed.
