The following is a transcription of the will made by Jane Wicks:

In the name of god amen the yere of our lord god 1544 and the 8 day of January, I Richard Browne of the parishe of Waldron in the county of Sussex and within the diocese of Chichester, whole of mynd and good and perfect remembrance thanks be unto almyghty god do make and orden this my present testament and last will in manner and forme foloyth . First I gyve and bequeth my saule  to almyghty god my maker and redeemer [and] to our blessyd lady Mary the virgin and to all the celestiall company of hevyn and my body to be buried in the church yard of Waldron aforesaid.
Item I give and beqeth unto Jone Ward, Elin Smyth, Alys Russell and Jone Joyly, widows, viij s equally to be devydyd and shift between them.
Item I gyve and bequeth unto mother Grenefeld, Wylliam Grenefeld, Roger Cutler and Agnes Glovar, viij s equally to be devydyd and shift betwixt them.
Item I gyve and bequeth toward the __ of the great bell, vj s viij d,
the resydew of all my goods and cattells, my bequethes and my debts payed, I gyve and bequeth unto Thomas Harrys, parson of Waldron and Thomas Wood of Waldron aforesaid, whom I make and orden myne executors,
thes beyng witness, John Dyne, William Wood, Richard ___, William Mosse and others.
