The following is a transcription of the will provided to me and made by John F Howes - February 2012:

In the name of God Amen the thirteenth day of December in the second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord James the second of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, King, defender of the faith et Annoq Domi 1686 I Nathaniel Browne of Westhoathly in the County of Sussex, Yeoman being infirm of body but of sound minde, memory thanks be given to Almighty God make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say Imprimis I commend mu soul to God that gave itt hoping through the merrittts of Jesus Christ my savior to obtaine forgiveness of my sins and to (obtain crossed out)inherit eternall life and my body to the earth to bee decently buried att the discretion of my executors hereafter named. And as touching and concerning such lands, tenements and hereditaments as itt hath pleased Almighty God to bless mee withal I give and dispose thereof in manner following.
First I give and bequeath to my seaven daughters Mary the wife of Charles Smith, Elizabeth Browne, Lucy Browne, Jane Browne, Sarah Browne Susanna Browne and Martha Browne all those tythes of corn and grasses arising, renewing and coming out of severall lands, tenements and herditaments lieing and being in the parish if Westhoathly aforesaid containing by estimation fifteen hundred acres more or less and now are or late were in the occupation of the said Nathaniel Browne my assigne or assigns,
And also All those other severall pieces or percells of lands called the lower five acres, the uper five acres, the plaw Riddens,the upper Riddens, the rough Riddens, the lower Riddens, the Colliers Lodge (Nathaniel Browne), the new lane leading from Sharp Thorn to Combehouse, the upper greens, the croft and the lower side of the rails containing by estimation forty acres more or less. And also the Stripe: the Lanes lodge: the lower Perry feilds containing by estimation eighteen acres more or less with their and every of their appurtenances to have and to hold the said tithes, hereditaments and premises with their and every of their appurtenances equally unto my seaven daughters, Mary Smith, Elizabeth, Lucy, Jane, Sarah, Susanna and Martha Browne their heirs and assigns for ever. And whereas I have surrendered all those my copyhold lands and tenements called Bretthouse the browne croft and the Watts croft with their appurtenances to such use and uses as I the said Nathaniel Browne should by my last will and testament in writing limit and declare. I doe limit and declare the use and uses of the said copyhold lands and tenements with their appurtens unto my said seven daughters Mary Smith, Elizabeth, Lucy, Jane, Sarah, Susanna and Martha Browne their heirs and assigns for ever..
And whereas I have mortgaged the said pieces of lands called the Stripe: the Lanes lodge and the two Perry feildes unto Mr Page of Eastgrinstead for one hundred pounds: fourscore pounds whereof Charles Smith the husband of my said daughter Mary had and received to his own use and myself the other twenty pounds. Now my meaning is that my said daughter Mary and her heirs shall pertake equally with the rest of my said daughters according to the bequeast aforesaid upon condition that the said Charles Smith or Mary Smith or heir, heirs or assigns or some of them shall pay and satisfie the said fourscore pounds to the said Mr Page and the other twenty pounds to be paid by the said daughters equally.
Item I doe (Natahniel Browne) hereby give and bequeath unto my said seaven daughters all and singular my goods and chattels whatsoever equally amongst them.
Item I doo desire and appoint Mr John Edsaw of Linfield and Mr Robert Edsaw of the same place to bee my overseers of this my last will and testament to whom I give ten shillings a piece  for their pains.
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Agnes the wife of Jasper Wheeler the sum of twelve pounds to bee paid her within three months next after my decease.
And lastly I doe hereby constitute my said daughters Mary Smith, Elizabeth Browne, Lucy Browne, Jane Browne, Sarah Browne Susanna Browne and Martha Browne executors of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament contained in three sheets of paper to each sheet sett my hand & seale the day and year first before written (Natahniel Browne)

Signed, sealed published and declared to bee the last will and teatament of the said Nathaniel Browne in the presence of the marke of Francis Ellis, the marke of Richard Swane, Nath Moore.
