The following is a transcription of the will provided to me and made by Jane Wicks:

In the name of God Amen one thowsand five hundred nynety seven the seventh day of June I Henry Browne of Eastgrinsted and in the diocesse of Chichester being sick of body but perfect of remembrance I thank God for yt doe ordeyne and make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge First I give my soule to god my Creator whoe hath in his mercy sent his sonne Jesus Christ to bee my onely Saviour and hath wrath in mee by his wholy ____ to beleeve that hee died for my sinnes and rose agayne for my justification for the which I give him most harty thanks And my body honestly buried where yt shall please god
Item I give to Anne my wife the farme where I nowe dwell which I late tooke of one Mr Turner during the whole terme yf shee doe live so longe yf shee fayle before the yeeres bee expired then I give the same to my sonnes Henry, Elisha and John or the longer liver of them yf any of them dye before their mother
Item I doe give to Henry my sonne one fetherbed, one boulster, one payre of sheets and one pillowe
Item I give to Elisha my sonne one fetherbed and boulster, the best brasse panne, one payre of sheets and one yeerlinge bullocke
Item I give to John my sonne one fetherbed, one boulster, one payre of sheets, one brasse pott
Item I doe give to Judithe my youngest daughter two payer of sheets one brasse ___ one wenyeere and two pewter platters
Item I doe give to my daughter Easter a lease of seven yeeres of all the howsinge and backside which Nicholl had in an old lease granted by one William Browne or else by one Howen and the keepinge or runninge of two hoggs but that shee must make a pen for the feedinge of them payinge for all as is above twenty shillings a yeere at two usuall termes of the yeere that is to say at St Michael the Arkangell ten shillings and at the Annunsiacion of the Virgin Mary ten shillings and it shallbee lawfull for my Execurix or her assignes to strayne for her rent yf yt bee not payd within fourteen dayes And also my will ys that my daughter Easter shall have two crofts of land by estimacion eyght acres of land bee it more or lesse, nowe in the occupacion of William Seall paying for yt twenty shillings in manner and tymes as is above said And yt is my will that Shee nor her assignes shall lett nor sett any parte or parcell of yt nor doe anything that shall bee hurtfull to my lease late taken of Mr Turner

All the Residue of my goods my debts payd and legacies fullfilled and my body honestly buried I give to Anne my wife whome I make my whole Executrix of this my last will and testament All my houshold stuffe that is above given yt is my will that my Executrix shall have the use of yt during her naturall life except they marry before
