Amos Shirley & Lucy Stripp were not one of my direct ancestors but they are related to me as later indirect generations of a direct ancestor.

Amos Shirley was baptised on 8th November 1835 in Godstone, Surrey. He was the son of Richard Shirley who was the son of William Shirley (see William Shirley 1766 ref 8 D for details). He married Lucy Stripp on 17th October 1860 in Blindley Heath, Surrey. In 1871 they were living at Cottage on Common, Blindley Heath; in 1881 they were living at Blindley Heath common and in 1891 they were living at Bauks Cottage, Blindley Heath. Amos died in about February 1919 in Godstone RD, Surrey ('aged 83').
Lucy Stripp was born on 3rd August 1837 in Tandridge, Surrey. She was the daughter of William Stripp who was the son of Richard Stripp who was the son of William Stripp. (See William Stripp 1715 family ref 6Av for details). Lucy died in about February 1913 in Godstone RD, Surrey (aged 75').
Amos & Lucy had sixteen children.

The families of Strip/Streape and Shirley tend to very interconnected with marriages between them and also the families living adjacent to each other. The families tend to be based around the Surrey/Sussex border at Copthorne, Horne (Frogit Heath) and Blindley Heath. Looking at the parish map one can see that the parishes of Tandridge, Godstone & Horne all merge at this point and also are adjacent to Worth & East Grinstead. Frogit Heath is actually in Horne & Godstone parishes and Blindley Heath is actually in Horne, Godstone, Tandridge & Lingfield parishes. The location is some distant from the
