Robert Payne & Margaret were one of my 8th generation ancestors.

Key Dates:

Robert Payne was baptised 12th October 1680 in East Grinstead, Sussex. He was the son of Robert Payne & sarah faulconer . He inherited Newcombe in Balcombe in his grandfather's Henry Faulconer 'Will' after the death of his wife Elizabeth (see Henry Faulconer1627).
The birth, marriage and burial details of Margaret are not known

Verification & Concerns Returns to 'Top of Page'

  1. There was only one Robert Payne born in the period 1664-1698 (age 16 to 50 at birth of  first child). This person is very likely to be correct.
  2. Source 3 identified a possible Robert Payne  baptised 21/2/1693 in East Grinstead son of Richard Payne and Mary Pallatte, plus 9 other children. None of these could be located on the East Grinstead Parish register transcripts so are believed to be erroneous.
  3. Cannot find a marriage of Robert & Margaret (Sources 1,2,3 ), no marriage of any Robert Payne(sources 1,2 & 3) and no death of Robert Payne or Margaret Payne in West Hoathly
  4. No other children found ( Checked in West Hoathly, East Grinstead)
  5. Source 2 shows a Robert Payne married Mary Durrant in Preston, Sussex on 07/10/1706.
