General History

Henry Faulconer & Mary were one of my 11th generation ancestors.

Key Dates:

Henry Faulconer was baptised on 19th December 1602 in Cuckfield and he was the son of Henry Faulconer & Joan Brett . He married Mary before or about 1634. No possible marriage has been found for them in the Sussex or Sussex marriage indexes or the IGI.   He was an executor of his father's 1632 ‘Will’ and that of his uncle Thomas in 1651.  Henry was buried on 16th May 1665 in Balcombe, Sussex and administration of his estate was granted to his brother John on 24th October 1668.

Mary's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown.

Henry & Mary  had six known children:

  1. Mary Faulconer (shown as Faulkner) was baptised on 4th May 1634 in East Grinstead.  As Mary Faulconer she married John Lee on 2nd November 1652 in East Grinstead but John ‘John Lee the Younger’ was buried on 14th August 1657 in East Grinstead, Sussex.  She secondly married John Wicking on 14th March 1658. Details of John Wicking & Mary Faulconer are shown separately.
  2. Henry Faulconer (shown as Faulkner) was baptised on 17th January 1636 in East Grinstead. He was possibly buried there on 29th February 1636 (shown as Fawlkner).
  3. Elizabeth Faulconer was buried on 24th January 1637 in East Grinstead (shown as Fawlkner, a child).
  4. Bridget Faulconer (shown as Faulkner) was baptised on 17th December 1637 in East Grinstead.  She married William Norman on 2nd November 1657 in East Grinstead (bands also issued in Lindfield on 3rd September). William was described as a yeoman and they were both said to be of East Grinstead  William Norman was baptised on 22nd April 1638 in Cuckfield, Sussex. He was the son of Richard Norman (1611-?) and Mary Woolvin. Bridget Faulconer & William Norman are direct ancestors of Mandy Willard (click to access the relevant page on her site or go to 'Links' to access the site home page).William  and Bridget had two known children:
    1. William Norman was baptised on 24th October 1662 in East Grinstead.
    2. John Norman, was baptised on 11th August 1667 in East Grinstead.  He married Ann Gaston in 1694. 
  5. Elizabeth Faulconer (shown as Faulkner) was baptised on 20th February 1640 in East Grinstead.  Elizabeth (shown as Faulknor) may have married Richard Best on 19th May 1659 in East Grinstead.
  6. Joan Faulconer was baptised on 18th April 1645 in East Grinstead.
