Giles Browne (c1550) & Anne

Border
General History

Giles Browne wwas not one of my direct ancestors and was probably not related to me. However as their descendants form a part of the Mid Sussex, East Surrey & SW Kent Brown's the details are included here for completeness.

Key Dates:

Giles Browne was possibly born in about 1550 in Westerham, Kent. He was the son of Giles Browne who was maybe possibly the son of Cuthbert Browne. Giles was a weaver. He was mentioned in the Westerham Manor records in 1590, 1619-21, 1624, 1625, 1634, 1638 & 1641 (as Giles senior) and he was also mentioned as taking an 'esson' (excuse for absence) to the manorial court for William Browne in 1590 and he was a witness to William Browne's 'Will' of 1589 (Note: both of these may refer to his father). In 1642, 1642 & 1645 the Manorial Rolls showed he had died and that he owned properties called Medhurst & Wells Cooper.
He married Anne (Annis) in about 1575. Anne was buried on 18th February 1614 in Westerham, Kent ('Annis, wife of Gyles'). Giles was buried 30th April 1640 in Westerham, Kent ('old').
