Abel Browne & Elizabeth were not one of my direct ancestors but they are related to me as later indirect generations of a direct ancestor.

Abel Browne was born about 1622 (this is presumed as no birth records have been found) possibly in Worth, Sussex.. He was possibly the son of Abel Browne who was the son of Thomas Browne (& Elizabeth) who was the son of Abel Brown (& Mary Mascal) who was the son of Thomas Browne & Elizabeth Teyton. He married Elizabeth and they had four children. Elizabeth possibly remarried John Pollard on 11^th February 1674 in Horne, Surrey (Elizabeth shown as previously married from Burstow). Abel was possibly buried on 16^th January 1661 in Bletchingly, Surrey. His estate, in Burstow, had a probate inventory undertaken on 17^th February 1661 (see below) with Abel shown as 'late of Burstow'.

Elizabeth's birth details are not known.

Abel Browne was baptised on 29^th May 1651 in Nutfield, Surrey. He married Elizabeth Browning on 1^st October 1685 in Ardingly, Sussex. Abel was probably buried on 21^st February 1728 in East Grinstead, Sussex (shown as Able and 'old man') and Elizabeth was buried there on 24^th April 1730 ('a widow'). Abel left a Will dated 1727 and was shown to be living in Withyham, Sussex. Abel & Elizabeth had six children.
1. Abel Brown (Able) was baptised on 25^th March 1688 in East Grinstead, Sussex. He was mentioned in his father's Will of 1727. He married Susanna Head on 9^th April 1725 in East Grinstead, Sussex (shown as Able). Abel was buried on 17^th May 1730 in East Grinstead, Sussex (shown as Able & Yeoman). Abel & Susanna had three children.
  1. Elizabeth Brown was baptised on 20^th May 1726 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
  2. Sarah Brown was baptised on 10^th April 1730 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
  3. Mary Brown was baptised on 10^th April 1730 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
2. Sarah Brown was baptised on 26^th September 1690 in East Grinstead, Sussex. She was mentioned in her father's Will of 1727.
3. Elizabeth Brown was baptised on 4^th December 1693 in East Grinstead, Sussex. No name given but shown as daughter of Abel & Elizabeth of Lingfield. She was mentioned in her father's Will of 1727.
4. Anna Brown was baptised on 15^th February 1696 in Lingfield, Surrey (father shown as Abeli). She was mentioned in her father's Will of 1727.
5. William Brown was probably born around 1700, probably in Lingfield, Surrey. He was mentioned in his father's Will of 1727. He possibly married Jane. William & Jane had five children.

  2. John Brown was baptised on 23^rd May 1735 in Lingfield, Surrey. He possibly married Rose Belton on 18^th October 1760 in Godstone, Surrey. Rose was buried on 5^th June 1824 in Godstone, Surrey (aged 86). John & Rose had seven children.
    1. John Brown was baptised on 27^th September 1761 in Godstone, Surrey. He possibly married Mary Pain on 5^th December 1790 in Godstone, Surrey. John & Mary had two children.

6. John Brown (Johannes) was baptised on 10^th October 1702 in Lingfield, Surrey and was buried there on 13^th February 1705 ('son of Abel').

John Brown was baptised on 11^th January 1657 in Horne, Surrey (son of Abel & Elizabeth from Burstow). He possibly married Mary Finis on 18^th May 1682 in Burstow, Surrey. John was possibly buried on 29^th November 1741 in Godstone, Surrey (aged 92!!) and Mary was possibly buried there on 20^th May 1742. John & Mary had eight children.

7. William Browne was baptised on 28^th August 1692 in Godstone, Surrey. He possibly married Mary. Mary was possibly buried on 9^th July 1763 in Godstone, Surrey and William was possibly buried there on 27^th June 1766. William & Mary had three children.
  1. Mary Browne was baptised on 23^rd June 1714 in Godstone, Surrey.
  2. Martha Browne was baptised on 28^th October 1716 in Godstone, Surrey.
  3. Elizabeth Browne was baptised on 11^th September 1719 in Godstone, Surrey.
8. Richard Browne was baptised on 28^th December 1698 in Godstone, Surrey. He possibly married Elizabeth. Richard & Elizabeth had three children.
  1. Elizabeth Browne was baptised on 1^st September 1728 in Tandridge, Surrey and she was buried there on 22^nd November 1728.
  2. Mary Browne was baptised on 6^th March 1730 in Tandridge, Surrey.
  3. William Browne was born on 24^th January and was baptised on 28^thJanuary 1732 in Tandridge, Surrey. William was buried on 12^th October 1813 in Tandridge, Surrey ('aged 82'). William left a 'Will' that was proven on 6^th May 1814.
William Brown was baptised on 28^th April 1659 in Burstow, Surrey. He possibly married Mary Duglass on 9^th May 1682 in Lingfield, Surrey. Mary was buried on 30^th September 1706 in Lingfield, Surrey ('wife of William'). William & Mary had six children. (Note: Wife & Children could possibly also have been children of William son of Theophelus born 1645 in East Grinstead and/or vice versa - see John Brown 1558)

3. William Browne was baptised on 26^th August 1685 in Lingfield, Surrey and he was buried there 23^rd April 1686 ('son of William').
4. William Browne was baptised on 2^nd January 1687 in Lingfield, Surrey.
5. Elizabeth Browne was baptised on 9^th February 1690 in Lingfield, Surrey.
