John Monke were one of my 14th generation ancestors.

Key Dates:

John Monke birth details are not known, but he was possibly born in about 1500 possibly in Worth, Sussex. The only reference found to his name was in the lay subsidy rolls for 1524/25 where he was taxed on £6 13s 4d. For further details of other Family Names see Taxation-Subsidy Rolls.

  1. Michael Monke was possibly born in about 1530 possibly in Worth, Sussex. He married Joan. Details of Michael Monke & Joan are shown separately as they are direct ancestors.
  2. John Monke was possibly born in about 1535 possibly in Worth, Sussex. He married Alice Nicholas on 13th October 1560 in Worth, Sussex. John was probably buried on 19th November 1663 in Worth, Sussex. John & Alice had one child.
    1. Anne Monke (Moncke) was baptised on 5th September 1563 in Worth, Sussex ('dau of John & Ales').
  3. Thomas Monke was possibly born in about 1540 possibly in Worth, Sussex. He married Joan. Thomas was probably buried on 10th February 1571 in Worth, Sussex and Joan was possibly buried there on 22nd October 1581 ('widow, Monncke'). Thomas & Joan had one child
    1. John Monke (Moncke) was baptised on 13th August 1570 in Worth, Sussex.
  4. Joan Monke was possibly born in about 1545 possibly in Worth, Sussex
  5. Richard Monke was possibly born in about 1550 possibly in Worth, Sussex. He married Margaret. Richard & Margaret had four children.
    1. Richard Monke (Moncke) was baptised on 1st November 1576 in Worth, Sussex.
    2. Anne Monke (Moncke) was baptised on 15th February 1579 in Worth, Sussex.
    3. Bridget Monke (Moncke) was baptised on 5th March 1581 in Worth, Sussex and she was buried there on 17th March 1581 (' dau of Richard & Margaret').
    4. John Monke (Moncke) was baptised on 8th April 1582 in Worth, Sussex.
