Joseph Bones & Elizabeth Giles were one of my 8th generation ancestors.

Joseph Bones was baptised on 8th June 1701 in Mayfield, Sussex and was the son of John Bones & Sarah. He married Elizabeth Giles on 1st April 1723 in Heathfield, Sussex.

Elizabeth Giles (Gyles) was baptised on 26th April 1695 in Heathfield, Sussex. She was the daughter of Robert Giles & Barbara Mascall.

  1. Mary Bones was baptised on 29th March 1724 in Mayfield, Sussex.
  2. Elizabeth Bones was baptised on 2nd January 1726 in Mayfield, Sussex. She married Thomas Underhill on 2nd May 1748 in Mayfield, Sussex.Thomas & Elizabaeth had one child.
    1. Daniel Underhill was baptised in 1756 in Mayfield, Sussex.
  3. Joseph Bones was baptised on 15th December 1728 in Mayfield, Sussex.
  4. Benjamin Bones was baptised on 9th July 1732 in Mayfield, Sussex. He possibly married Elizabeth Izard on 30th March 1755 in Rotherfield, Sussex (shown as 'Benjamin from Wadhurst', but Wadhurst adjacent to Rotherfield & Mayfield - no other Benjamin found in Wadhurst of this time but age at death inconsistent with birth). Benjamin was possibly buried on 13th December 1806 in Wadhurst, Sussex ('aged 81'). Benjamin & Elizabeth had five known children plus possibly others.
    1. Mary Bones was baptised on 17th December 1759 in Wadhurst, Sussex (PRT has no day) .
    2. Benjamin Bones was born in about 1763 (derived as no birth record found) possibly in Wadhurst, Sussex. He married Elizabeth Elliott on 11th January 1786 in Wadhurst, Sussex (shown as Bonns). Elizabeth was buried on 17th June 1817 in Wadhurst, Sussex ('aged 56, wife of Benjamin') and Benjamin was buried there on 20th March 1822 ('aged 62, widower of Lewes'). Benjamin & Elizabeth had possibly six children.
      1. William Bones was baptised on 9th January 1787 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      2. Barnabas Bones was baptised on 8th March 1789 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      3. Alfred Bones was baptised on 4th September 1791 in Wadhurst, Sussex (not in parish register transcripts) and he was buried there on 6th October 1800 ('son of Benjamin & Elizabeth')
      4. Harriet Bones was born on 7th January and was baptised on 10th January 1794 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      5. George Bones was baptised on 18th May 1797 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      6. Samuel Bones was born about 1800 and was baptised on 27th July 1817 in Wadhurst, Sussex ('aged 17').
    3. Emma Bones (Emmy) was baptised on 30th June 1765 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
    4. William Bones was baptised on 16th July 1770 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
    5. Daniel Bones (Danial) was baptised on 15th September 1771 in Wadhurst, Sussex. He possibly married Sarah Lambkin on 4th December 1798 in Ticehurst, Sussex (Daniel shown as from Salehurst). Daniel was possibly buried on 21st August 1847 in Wadhurst, Sussex ('aged 80'). Daniel & Sarah had six children.
      1. Sarah Bones was born on 4th March and was baptised on 30th March 1800 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      2. John Bones was baptised on 5th September 1802 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      3. Mary Ann Bones was baptised on 16th June 1805 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      4. William Alfred Bones was baptised on 24th April 1808 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      5. James Bones was baptised on 20th October 1811 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
      6. Joseph Bones was baptised on 5th March 1815 in Wadhurst, Sussex.
    6. William Bones was baptised on 6th August 1774 in Wadhurst, Sussex (PRT has no day).
  5. John Bones was baptised on 9th February 1735 in Mayfield, Sussex. He married Sarah Muddle. Details of John Bones & Sarah Muddle are shown separately as they are direct ancestors.

  1. There was also an Elizabeth Giles baptised on 08/11/1702 in Burwash, dau of William & Ann Giles. However as the marriage of Joseph took place in Heathfield, the identified Elizabeth seems to be the correct person.
  2. There are no transcripts for Wadhurst prior to 1744 so other Bones (including Benjamin) may exist in Wadhurst in this prior period.
