John Bones & Rachel Quinnel were not one of my direct ancestors but they are related to me as later generations of a direct ancestor.

John Bones was baptised on 5th January 1720 in Mayfield, Sussex. He was the son of John Bones & Parnell Tomset. John was the son of John Bones (1660) & Sarah. He married Rachel Quinnel on 7th November 1742 in Rotherfield, Sussex (shown as Boans). John was probably buried on 23rd December 1798 in Rotherfield, Sussex ('John senior').

Rachel Quinnel (Quinel) was baptised on 5th July 1719 in Rotherfield, Sussex, the daughter of John & Anne Quinel. John & Anne had eight children in Rotherfield ( Ann, Samuel, Mary, Eleonor, Elizabeth, Sarah, Isaac & Rachel). Rachel was buried on 26th January 1803 in Rotherfield, Sussex ('widow of John').

  1. John Bones was possibly baptised on 5th May 1743 in Mayfield, Sussex. He was probably buried on 17th May 1761 in Rotherfield, Sussex ('son of John & Rachel Boanes').
  2. Elizabeth Bones was baptised on 5th November 1744 in Mayfield, Sussex.
  3. Sarah Bones was baptised on 26th July 1746 in Mayfield, Sussex.
  4. Rachel Bones was baptised on 26th February 1749 in Rotherfield, Sussex.
  5. Philadelphia Bones was baptised on 31st March 1751 in Rotherfield, Sussex.
  6. Jane Bones was baptised on 21st January 1753 in Rotherfield, Sussex.
  7. Thomas Bones was baptised on 23rd March 1755 in Rotherfield, Susse and he was buried there on 7th June 1757 ('son of John').
  8. William Bones was baptised on 20th February 1757 in Rotherfield, Sussex.
  9. Samuel Bones (shown as Boanes) was baptised on 10th August 1760 in Rotherfield, Sussex and he was buried there on 2nd September 1760 ('son of John & Rachel Boanes')
  10. John Bones (shown as Boans) was baptised on 30th August 1761 in Rotherfield, Sussex. He married Sarah Tasker on 28th February 1780 in Mayfield, Sussex. Sarah was possibly baptised on 30th August 1761, (but not on Mayfield Parish Register), and she was buried on 20th September 1801 in Rotherfield, Sussex ('wife of John'). John & Sarah had seven children.
    1. John Bones was baptised on 20th April 1783 in Rotherfield, Sussex.
    2. Hannah Bones was baptised on 29th May 1785 in Rotherfield, Sussex. She married Henry Hadley on 6th April 1804 in Rotherfield, Sussex.
    3. Elizabeth Bones was baptised on 5th August 1787 in Rotherfield, Sussex. She married Thomas Piddlesden on 24th October 1808 in Rotherfield, Sussex.
    4. James Bones was baptised on 13th September 1789 in Rotherfield, Sussex. He married Mary Martin, (a widow), on 26th September 1811 in Rotherfield, Sussex. They had possibly seven children (Iden, James, Ambrose, Henry, Mary, Harriet, Jesse).
    5. Stephen Bones was baptised on 21st November 1790 in Rotherfield, Sussex and he was buried there on 26th January 1791 ('son of John & Sarah').
    6. Philadelphia Bones was baptised on 12th February 1792 in Rotherfield, Sussex.
    7. Harriet Bones was baptised on 9th April 1797 in Rotherfield, Sussex. She probably married David Humphrey on 14th December 1822 in Horsemonden, Sussex..
  11. James Bones (shown as Boanes) was baptised on 2nd October 1763 in Rotherfield, Sussex .

  1. There also was a Rachel Quinel baptised on 20/11/1722, daughter of William & Rachel, but she was buried on th October 1724, 'daughter of William'.
  2. There were differant spellings of "Quinnel" in the parish registers eg Quinnell (mostly pre 1700), Quinnel, Quinel (mostly post 1700)
