Personal History Returns to 'Top of Page'

John was a Tailor, but then became a Staymaker. (shown in both baptisms of both marriages ). Stay-maker is an old obsolete name for a corsetmaker -the best corsetmakers were highly skilled tailors.

The family were initially based in Easingwold but moved to Haxby. Haxby is about 6 miles from Easingwold. He later returned to Easingwold.
